Cranston East has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Mt. Pleasant Kilties at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cranston East will be strutting in after a win while the Kilties will be coming in after a loss.
Last Wednesday, Cranston East earned a 51-41 win over the Avengers.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cranston East to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mya Jiminez, who scored 22 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Jiminez has scored at least a third of Cranston East's points. Another player making a difference was Samantha Vernancio, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 57-14 loss at the hands of Moses Brown. While losing is never fun, Mt. Pleasant can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Quakers are ranked first).
Cranston East's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14. As for Mt. Pleasant, their loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-13.
Everything came up roses for Cranston East against the Kilties in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 66-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cranston East since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
