The Maryville Red Rebels will take on the Barron Collier Cougars in a tournament on Thursday. Maryville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Maryville picked up another tournament win on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Port Charlotte, sneaking past 11-9. Maryville's win was all the more impressive since the Pirates were averaging only 3.58 runs allowed on the season.

Anderson Abbott looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Gavin Dibartolomeo and Trey Carico did most of the damage at the plate: Dibartolomeo scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Carico scored a run while going 2-for-4. Kaine Baber was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Maryville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Barron Collier beat IMG Academy Royal 7-3 on Wednesday.

Andrew Maroney and Dylan Wiggins dominated on the mound. Maroney tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits, while Wiggins tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, Wiggins posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Will Clark was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Barron Collier has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. Maryville's victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
