Even though the Seeger Patriots have not done well against the Rossville Hornets recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Seeger came out on top in a nail-biter against Rossville and snuck past 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Seeger has posted yet this season.
Christian Holland continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of cameron laws, who scored 20 points along with three steals.
Rossville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caden Wilson, who scored 14 points along with seven steals. Wilson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Skiles, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Seeger and bumps their season record up to 8-4. As for Rossville, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seeger's road trip will continue as they head out to face Benton Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Benton Central is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. As for Rossville, they will head out on the road to face off against Clinton Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Clinton Central has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9.
