Watersprings lost against the Challis Vikings back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The matchup between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Watersprings falling 43-24. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Challis: they've now lost six in a row.
Watersprings' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Libby Grijalva, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ally Zellner, who scored five points along with five steals.
Watersprings' defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Challis, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Watersprings will stay at home for another game and welcome Grace Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. Grace Lutheran's defense has only allowed 23.8 points per game this season, so Watersprings' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Challis, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Butte County at 7:00 p.m.
