Arkeel Newsome ran for five touchdowns to lift
Ansonia (Conn.) to a 51-12 beat over Woodland Regional (Beacon Falls, Conn.). The scores gave the senior 70 touchdowns for the year.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Newsome in the first quarter, the Chargers were up 25-7 at the half.
Ansonia grew its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. AHS scored two times in the third, including once on an Newsome touchdown run.
Even though the Chargers led by 22 entering the fourth quarter, they poured the points on, scoring 15 in the quarter.
Ansonia came into the game allowing 16.7 points per game. Woodland Regional's 12 points were well below their season average of 35.6 per game.
The loss comes after Woodland Regional defeated Bloomfield 30-26 last week. The loss broke Woodland Regional's three-game winning streak.
