The Delta Eagles will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Yorktown Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Delta had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 67-31 victory over Centerville on the road. Given Delta's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Centerville is ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Delta got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was D'Amare Hood out in front who scored 17 points along with 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Hood has scored at least 25% of Delta's points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Wors, who scored 14 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Yorktown humbled Muncie Burris with a 66-21 victory.
Their wins bumped Delta to 3-0 and Centerville to 1-3.
Delta came up short against Yorktown when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 49-39. Thankfully for Delta, Aj Dunn (who scored 23 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
