Basketball Recap: Riley Jacobs Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Landon

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes won the last time they faced Landon and things went their way on Tuesday too. The St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints managed a 59-53 win over the Landon Bears. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 11th in Virginia, while the Bears are ranked 65th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Stephen's & St. Agnes to victory, but perhaps none more so than Riley Jacobs, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. Jacobs' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Marcus Hancock, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' record is now 13-2. As for Landon, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-7.
