Football Recap: Palisades Extends Winning Streak to Six

Palisades strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took down the Westchester Comets 35-19. Given the Dolphins' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Comets are ranked 666th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palisades to victory, but perhaps none more so than Demare Dezeurn, who picked up 181 receiving yards and two TDs. Dezeurn's longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards. Jack Thomas was another key player, having thrown for 266 yards and two touchdowns.

Palisades didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Westchester to a completion percentage of just 27.3%. The team can thank Tavian Talbert for the heroic effort on defense: he. Palisades hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.56 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Palisades, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Dezeurn, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Westchester's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justen Key, who rushed for 87 yards and a pair of scores. Key didn't just play on offense: he also made seven total tackles and defended one pass. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Orr, who rushed for 51 yards and one touchdown.

Palisades' record is now 6-0. As for Westchester, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Palisades wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 56-54 victory against Venice on the 10th. As for Westchester, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 19-6 win against Fairfax on the 10th.
