Baseball Recap: Canyon View Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Canyon View had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Desert Edge Scorpions as they made off with a 12-1 win. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Canyon View got a great performance from Josiah Rodriguez as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Ricardo Yuriar was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Berlan, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Canyon View pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Desert Edge, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

Canyon View has already played their next contest, a 6-5 victory against Willow Canyon on the 2nd. As for Desert Edge, they will take on the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
