Basketball Recap: Rockford Auburn Piles Up the Points Against Freeport

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rockford Auburn). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 105-59 win over the Freeport Pretzels. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 54-42 victory the Pretzels walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rockford Auburn to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amir Danforth, who went 10 for 17from beyond the arc on his way to 44 points. The contest was Danforth's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Champ Parker, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 assists.

Freeport's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deklyn Rustad, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points. Kazion Morehead was another key player, going 7 for 16 on his way to 15 points.

Rockford Auburn has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Freeport, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-3.

Rockford Auburn has already played their next match, a 65-48 defeat against Waubonsie Valley on the 7th. As for Freeport, they will take on Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Freeport is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.2 points per game this season.
