The St. Francis de Sales Knights will square off against the Indian Creek Redskins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
St. Francis de Sales made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bowling Green, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Knights were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Bobcats on Friday.
Blake Reeder looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, St. Francis de Sales let Gabe Lisowski and Nick Hood run wild. Lisowski scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Hood scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Provaznik, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
St. Francis de Sales hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Indian Creek). They blew past East Liverpool 23-1 on Wednesday. With that win, the Redskins brought their scoring average up to 9.8 runs per game.
Sal Barcalow and Gavin Pownall were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Barcalow tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Pownall tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Barcalow scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Pownall scored four runs while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave Pownall a new career-high.
In other batting news, James Brothers and Caleb Bodo did most of the damage at the plate: Brothers went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Bodo scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four RBI gave Brothers a new career-high. Hunter Rusnak was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
