While the Liberty Charter Lions couldn't quite beat the High Tech NC Raptor on Tuesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 40-point loss they were dealt last Friday. Liberty Charter fell just short of High Tech NC by a score of 50-48. Liberty Charter has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Liberty Charter saw an underclassman step up: Maximus Gutierrez scored 19 points. It was the first time this season that Gutierrez scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Isaac Anderson, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Liberty Charter has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last eight matches, which lines up perfectly with their 5-15 record this season. As for High Tech NC, they pushed their record up to 12-12 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty Charter will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against High Tech Mesa at 5:00 p.m. on February 8th. High Tech Mesa will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Liberty Charter surely won't give up without a fight. As for High Tech NC, they will head out on the road to square off against Horizon Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. High Tech NC is facing Horizon Prep at the right time seeing as Horizon Prep is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
