Madi Yount put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
Yount wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Seifer, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Beech Grove ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Eminence 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted since May 22, 2024.
Kyrah Pierle tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Harper Moore was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Addison Corn was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Centerville's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Beech Grove, their win bumped their record up to 6-9-1.
Beech Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Centerville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Beech Grove, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Centerville keep running through batters, or will the Hornets buck the trend?
