The North Marion Colts will face off against the Bronson Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Marion is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with five losses in a row dating back to last season, North Marion turned things around against Eastside on Tuesday. They blew past the Rams 20-1. The Colts' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Ariana Turski, who scored four runs and stole six bases while going 4-for-4. Avree McCubbin was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
North Marion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .812. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastside only posted an OBP of .231.
Meanwhile, Bronson hadn't done well against Bell recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Bronson walked away with a 6-2 victory over Bell.
Julianne Lampton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, Maddie Dean and Makenna Dean did most of the damage at the plate: Maddie scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Makenna went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Maddie also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season.
North Marion's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Bronson, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. North Marion has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Bronson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went North Marion's way against Bronson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as North Marion made off with a 16-1 win. Will North Marion repeat their success, or does Bronson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
