Clinton is 1-9 against Turner since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. The last three games Clinton has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Clinton will face Turner after dropping another heartbreaker against Brodhead on Tuesday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 2.1 of beating them. The Cougars wound up with the same score they had in their last game (3-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Maycee Morris made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Turner came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Blue Devils. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Maddyn Saunders spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Genna Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Autumn Meris was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Turner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Turner pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Clinton, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clinton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Turner struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Clinton couldn't quite finish off Turner in their previous meeting two weeks ago and fell 3-1. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
