Continental is 0-8 against Columbus Grove since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Continental Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Columbus Grove Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Continental focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday.
Continental struggled with assists on Tuesday (Hicksville had 700% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Continental was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 37-36 to Hicksville. Continental has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Continental had strong showings from Olivia Crossgrove, who scored 8 points along with 15 rebounds and 7 blocks, and Ava Sheeter, who scored 18 points along with 5 steals. Sheeter scored a full 50% of Continental's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Columbus Grove had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on Elida with a sharp 68-47 victory.
The losses dropped Continental to 0-2 and Hicksville to 1-1.
Continental was dealt a bruising 59-26 loss at the hands of Columbus Grove in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Continental avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
