Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Flippin's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Flippin's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Lead Hill Tigers with a sharp 18-2 victory. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.

Adrianne Benedict was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Jozy Rehrig was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Cadence Pendergrass was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Flippin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Flippin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lead Hill, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Flippin will head out on the road to take on Melbourne at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lead Hill, they will square off against Jasper at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.22 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
