The Longview Lobos came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Mt. Pleasant 45-42. That's another feather in the cap for Longview, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Longview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Davis Justice, who scored 11 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'Morrion Williams, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Longview pushed their record up to 28-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Mt. Pleasant, their defeat ended a 23-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 25-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Longview will take on Tyler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Tyler's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marshall at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mt. Pleasant is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Marshall in Texas (Mt. Pleasant is ranked 101st, while Marshall is ranked 747th).
