Highland extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 15-10 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Gilbert Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-0 on Tuesday.

Logan Gutterman tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Highland's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Hammond, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Gavin Bair also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

As for Gilbert, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-17.

On Gilbert's side, Johhny King was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. King also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Tigers are 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 6-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Will Bates was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Grant Goodman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Highland has already played their next match, a 15-2 victory against Mesa on the 25th. Gilbert does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
