6A Three Rivers recap Oct. 23, 2012
Lake Oswego extended the longest winning streak in 6A Three Rivers this week by beating Lakeridge, 61-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Oregon City was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Clackamas. The Pioneers came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Canby's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Timmy Johnson threw for seven and one touchdown and Coby Cates had 32 yards receiving. On the ground Dominic Shorter chipped in 149 yards. Sam Bodine helped Canby's passing attack out by catching one ball for seven yards.
AJ Schlatter made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Cougars bested West Linn. The 6-foot-1 junior forced one fumble, recorded one fumble and grabbed one sack.
6-foot-4 quarterback Eric Dungey of the Pacers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1692. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. On the ground, the Cavaliers' Dan Sherrell has rushed for 1233 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Connor Griffin. The Lake Oswego star has 22 catches for 525 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Lake Oswego and Oregon City. Steve Coury's team enters the game ranked second in the state, while Kevin Strasser's team ranks 23rd.
