Houston is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Collierville is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Houston Mustangs will take on the Collierville Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Houston has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 174 points over their last four matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Houston had no problem doing just that on Friday. They really took it to Dickson County for the full four quarters, racking up a 47-0 win at home. The result was nothing new for Houston, who have now won six matches by 29 points or more so far this season.
Houston's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Chandler Day, who threw for 146 yards and four touchdowns, and Damon Sisa, who rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Sisa really tore up the turf during one magnificent 81-yard run.
Meanwhile, Collierville won a match that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Clarksville 23-22.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Collierville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Grant Troutman, who rushed for 15 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 102 yards and a touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. Joakim Dodson was another key contributor, picking up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Houston to 9-2 and Collierville to 8-3.
Houston strolled past Collierville in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 42-28. Does Houston have another victory up their sleeve, or will Collierville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
