After a string of eight wins, The Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 39-21 to Silsbee. Hamshire-Fannett has struggled against Silsbee recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Although Hamshire-Fannett took the loss, they still got scores from Chris Augustine and D'onte Zeno.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Silsbee to victory, but perhaps none more so than Michael Moshier, who threw for 336 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt. Dre'lon Miller also helped out as he racked up 166 receiving yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Hamshire-Fannett to a paltry 217 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Silsbee's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Garry White and his two sacks.
Hamshire-Fannett's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Silsbee, their victory was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0.
Hamshire-Fannett will take on Liberty at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Liberty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 793rd, while Hamshire-Fannett is ranked 117th). As for Silsbee, they will head out on the road to face off against Bridge City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
