The Northfield Nighthawks had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against Pueblo Central on Friday as Northfield made off with a 56-36 victory. The result was nothing new for Northfield, who have now won six contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Northfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zavious Chineth, who rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Christian Love, who rushed for 50 yards and three touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Pueblo Central still got an impressive performance from Amari Brown, who rushed for 284 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 71 yards and a touchdown on only five passes.
The win (which was Northfield's third in a row) raised their record to 8-3. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.67 points. As for Pueblo Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.
Northfield will head out on the road to face off against Thompson Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Thompson Valley will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Pueblo Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
