The Garnet Valley Jaguars will head out to take on the Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Tuesday, Garnet Valley needed a bit of extra time to put away Strath Haven. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 11-8. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Arieanna Dawson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Zoey Rogers was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5.
Dawson wasn't the only one making solid contact: Garnet Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Marple Newtown put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout last Wednesday. Everything went their way against Strath Haven as they made off with a 16-0 win. Considering the Fightin' Tigers have won four matchups by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ally Snyder looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Kirsten Adams was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Kaya Dezzi, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Garnet Valley's record now sits at 6-4. As for Marple Newtown, their record is now 6-0.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Garnet Valley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Marple Newtown struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
