On Friday, The Southern Prep Academy Fighting Rangers faced the Evangel Christian Academy Lions in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Southern Prep Academy breezed by Evangel Christian Academy at home to the tune of 58-20. The result was nothing new for Southern Prep Academy, who have now won six matches by 22 points or more so far this season.
Southern Prep Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jahziyah Anderson, who rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Mason, who threw for 97 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes.
Another reason for the win was Southern Prep Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Anderson and his two sacks.
Southern Prep Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Southern Prep Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Meadowview Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meadowview Christian is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. Evangel Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
