The Athens Hornets started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against the Chapel Hill Bulldogs. They took a 45-28 bruising from the Bulldogs on Saturday. It was the first time this season that Athens let down their fans at home.
Chapel Hill was led to victory by Rickey Stewart and Demetrius Brisbon jr. Stewart rushed for 161 yards while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, while Brisbon jr rushed for 105 yards on only 13 carries. Stewart hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for nine straight games.
Athens has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Chapel Hill, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.
Athens will be playing at home against Chapel Hill at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Chapel Hill is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Athens in Texas (Chapel Hill is ranked 80th, while Athens is ranked 344th). As for Chapel Hill, they will head out on the road to face off against Athens at 2:00 p.m.
