The third road matchup was the charm for the Western Reserve Roughriders, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top in a nail-biter against South Central on Friday and snuck past 56-53. That's another feather in the cap for Western Reserve, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why South Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gunner Ray. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ray has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Sanders, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
The win got Western Reserve back to even at 2-2. As for South Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western Reserve will challenge St. Paul at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Central won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lucas at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th. Lucas knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully South Central likes a good challenge.
