It was a good run, but the Holy Cross Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 56-52 loss to they. They were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Geneva apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Holy Cross still got an impressive performance from Aaron Garcia, who scored 28 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Garcia's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Hernandez, who scored 12 points.
Holy Cross' loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7. As for Geneva, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Holy Cross will head out on the road to face off against Veritas Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Veritas Academy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Geneva, they will be playing in front of their home fans against John Paul II at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. John Paul II will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1229th, while Geneva is ranked 383rd).
