Softball Recap: Westview Has No Trouble Against Buena Vista

Westview got themselves on the board against Buena Vista on Tuesday, but Buena Vista never followed suit. They blew past the Bison 14-0. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Bison recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Pyper Stortz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in October of 2024.

In other batting news, Elke Martin and Ginny Holtorf did most of the damage at the plate: Martin went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Holtorf went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Holtorf has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadence Bosan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Westview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buena Vista only posted an OBP of .111.

Westview's record now sits at 16-8. As for Buena Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Westview will challenge rival Benson on Thursday. Meanwhile, Buena Vista is set to square off against their familiar foe Bellevue West at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
