This season hasn't been kind to the Thomasville Bulldogs, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were beaten by Ledford 44-2 on Wednesday. Thomasville lost against Ledford in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 70-4 score last time.
Ledford found their leader in underclassman Izzy Smith, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The match was Smith's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sophie Wheat, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Thomasville's loss was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Ledford, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomasville will square off against South Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. South Davidson has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 20. As for Ledford, they will head out on the road to face off against Central Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Davidson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ledford in North Carolina (Central Davidson is ranked 146th, while Ledford is ranked 374th).
