Thompson has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against Langdon/Edmore/Munich at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Thompson beat East Grand Forks 65-59. Given Thompson's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 51st in North Dakota, while East Grand Forks is ranked 214th in Minnesota), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Drew Overby continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Wolfgram, who scored 13 points.
Langdon/Edmore/Munich suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Cavalier by a score of 64-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Tuesday (56), Langdon/Edmore/Munich still had to take the loss.
Thompson's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Langdon/Edmore/Munich, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Everything came up roses for Thompson against Langdon/Edmore/Munich when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 80-30 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thompson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
