The El Capitan Gauchos came into Friday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took down Central Valley 68-54 on Friday. Given El Capitan's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 509th, while Central Valley is ranked 1060th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading El Capitan to victory were Anthony Jones and Diego Ultreras. Jones scored 13 points along with five rebounds, while Ultreras scored 17 points. Ultreras is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. AJ Tadeo was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
El Capitan's victory bumped their record up to 16-12. As for Central Valley, their defeat was their 23rd straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-23.
El Capitan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Central Valley also has no future games currently scheduled.
