Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory waltzed into their match Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They came out on top against Evansville Memorial by a score of 70-58. Given Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Evansville Memorial is ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Evan Haywood, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. The match was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Javawn Brooks, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Warren Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Friday. They fell to Jeffersonville 64-59.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Warren Central, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory came up short against Warren Central when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 49-44. Can Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
