Drew Yagodzinskie was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Yagodzinskie was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs.
In other pitching news, Jace Stever looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Yagodzinskie wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Clarke Cartright, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits Cartright has posted since back in March of 2024. Another was Lukas Carpenter, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Mount Carmel pushed their record up to 11-3-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Midd-West, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
Midd-West might still be hurting after the 20-12 defeat they got from Mount Carmel in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
