While losing is never fun, Lakeview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 646th, while East is ranked 298th).
Despite the defeat, Lakeview saw an underclassman step up: Anna Haynie scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. Another player making a difference was Makenna Werner, who scored 12 points.
Lakeview's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.0 points per game. As for East, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Lakeview will be playing in front of their home fans against McKinley at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. McKinley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for East, they will head out on the road to face off against Struthers at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
