AA District 16 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Fairley and Kirby played the most hotly contested game in AA District 16 this week, with Fairley eventually emerging with a 40-38 victory.
Mitchell's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tamadreus Trezevant threw for 267 and one touchdown and Derion Munn had 103 yards receiving. On the ground Dejuan Mcquarters chipped in 23 yards. Mcquarters helped Mitchell's passing attack out by catching five balls for 75 yards.
The Tigers' Trezevant and Mcquarters have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Trezevant has thrown for 881 yards this season, while Mcquarters, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 23 catches for 407 yards. The Bulldogs' Dominque Smith leads the league in rushing yards with 524.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Fairley takes on Carver. Rahnmann Slocum's team's offense has recorded 134 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Cobras have permitted only 255 on the year.
A big matchup in AA District 16 this week will be when Mitchell takes on Oakhaven. As it stands, Nathan Cole's team is in first, while the Hawks are in fifth.
The Bulldogs led the league in scoring this week after putting up 40 points on the Cougars.
