The Tempe Buffaloes had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 57-52 W over Vista Grande on Thursday. That's another feather in the cap for Tempe, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tempe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Arthur Murphy, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Nassir Cobbs was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Vista Grande's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wade Eshom, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Eshom is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Thomas Ortega jr, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Tempe's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14. As for Vista Grande, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tempe won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Apache Junction at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Apache Junction is on a six-game streak of home losses, Tempe a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Vista Grande, they will head out on the road to take on Cortez at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cortez has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 452 points over their last seven games.
