The Caroline Cavaliers will face off against the King George Foxes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Caroline is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Caroline will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Spotsylvania, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cavaliers were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Knights on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Cavaliers have beaten the Knights on their field since April 18, 2019.
Jaidyn Tingen made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Tingen was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Jordyn Wilkerson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tinsley Pickett, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but King George ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Hanover 6-5. The win was familiar territory for the Foxes, who have now won six games in a row.
Kelsea-rae Minter spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kallie Slovak, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Stowers, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.
King George's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Caroline, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Caroline hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like King George struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Caroline beat King George 10-5 in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Foxes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
