The Wayne Blue Devils will face off against Platte Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Wayne is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Wayne's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Lincoln Lutheran 11-0. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Gavin Redden was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Wayne got a massive performance out of Adrian Contreras, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Contreras has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Kneifl, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Wayne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Platte Valley was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Plattsmouth by a score of 4-2. Platte Valley hasn't had much luck with Plattsmouth recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Braydon Dunn made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Kale Hoffer also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Wayne's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-9. As for Platte Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wayne has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Platte Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wayne couldn't quite finish off Platte Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
