Huntley had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past the Grant Community Bulldogs 4-2. Winning may never get old, but the Red Raiders sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Gretchen Huber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lana Hobday was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Grace Benson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Huntley's victory bumped their record up to 24-12. As for Grant Community, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-16-1 record this season.
