Pioneer had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.4 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They skirted past the Rossville Hornets 49-47. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hornets, too.

When it comes to explaining why Rossville lost, don't look at Ava Burkle. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 boards. Burkle has become a key player for Rossville: the team is 6-1 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Elliott, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Pioneer is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Rossville, they moved to 9-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
