The third road contest was the charm for the Benavides Eagles, as they earned their first road win of the season. They had just enough and edged Non Varsity Opponent out 34-31.
Benavides can attribute much of their success to Joshua Garcia, who scored 21 points. The matchup was Garcia's third in a row with at least ten points.
Benavides' victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-25.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benavides will square off against Hebbronville at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Hebbronville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 37 on Tuesday. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they will head out on the road to face off against Wallace at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
