Softball Recap: Anson Beats Cheraw for Their Third Straight Win

Anson made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cheraw, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Anson Bearcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cheraw Braves an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Bearcats have won four games by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory was the third in a row for Anson, bringing their record for this year to 4-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cheraw, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Anson will challenge South Stanly at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. South Stanly's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Anson's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cheraw, they will be playing at home against North Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cheraw has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
