While Port Gibson didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They never let the Jefferson County Tigers get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Thursday. Considering the Blue Waves have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Michael Evans, who scored three runs and stole Six bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Kimontae Crutison was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Six bases. while going 1-for-1.

Port Gibson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson County only posted an OBP of .286.

The victory made it two in a row for Port Gibson and bumps their season record up to 6-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 16 runs. As for Jefferson County, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Gibson will challenge Natchez at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Jefferson County will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wesson at 5:00 p.m. on March 18th.
