Ransom Everglades hasn't had much luck against Marathon recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Raiders will welcome the Dolphins at 4:00 p.m. Ransom Everglades has given up an average of 15.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Ransom Everglades lost 16-1 to Coral Gables on Thursday.
Ransom Everglades saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Biss, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Elizabeth Harper also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Marathon never let their opponents score last Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart. The result was nothing new for the Dolphins, who have now won five contests by 14 runs or more so far this season.
Sutton Sayer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Sayer was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Marathon let Anastasia Boose and Madelyn Thornton run wild. Boose went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Thornton got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Chole Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Marathon is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Ransom Everglades, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ransom Everglades has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Marathon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Ransom Everglades might still be hurting after the 22-10 defeat they got from Marathon when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
