Eagle has gone 8-2 against Capital recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Eagle lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Borah, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's matchup. The Mustangs never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Saturday. The victory was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on five straight.
The team relied heavily on Carter Ditlove, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Brent, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Eagle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Capital). Everything went their way against Centennial on Saturday as they made off with a 13-7 win.
Hudson Hays was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Capital is undefeated when Hays posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Capital got a big performance out of Josh Pirnie, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Pirnie a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cooper Myers, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Capital now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Eagle, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eagle has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Capital struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Eagle got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Capital by a conclusive 20-9 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
