Softball Recap: Athens' Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mt. Zion, Athens was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Bluejays by a score of 11-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the game before.

MacKenzie Ratliff 2026 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on 12 hits.

On the hitting side, Aubrey Crispen 2027 was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Kenzie Szoke 2026 was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Crispen 2027 wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Athens lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

With the win, Athens broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
