The Fossil Ridge SaberCats are taking a road trip to face off against the Heritage Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Fossil Ridge made easy work of Greeley West and carried off a 16-2 win. The result was nothing new for the SaberCats, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Luc Gaca-Thiele was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other pitching news, Connor Folkman looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
Back at the plate, Tyler Kephart was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Matt Lang, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Fossil Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greeley West only posted an OBP of .417.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Wednesday. Heritage was the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over Valor Christian. The victory continues a trend for Heritage in their matchups with Valor Christian: they've now won three in a row.
Jaden McKinney looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bryant Buelow was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of James Long, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.
The win made it two in a row for Fossil Ridge and bumps their season record up to 9-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Heritage, their record is now 4-8.
Heritage's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fossil Ridge has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Heritage, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Fossil Ridge's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Fossil Ridge took their win against Heritage in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the SaberCats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
