Basketball Recap: Rocky River Falls Despite Big Games from Emmanuella Ne Bantu and Camille Montgomery

Rocky River lost against Providence back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Rocky River Ravens took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Providence Panthers. The Ravens just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Rocky River's loss came despite strong showings from Camille Montgomery and Emmanuella Ne Bantu. Montgomery posted 13 points, while Ne Bantu had four points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 boards gave Ne Bantu a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Rocky River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Providence found their leader in freshman Anna Fillnow, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Fillnow. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Fuller, who scored eight points along with eight boards and five blocks.

Rocky River's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5. As for Providence, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-11.

Rocky River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-19 win against Independence on the 14th. As for Providence, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-24 victory against Garinger on the 14th.
