Baseball Recap: River Ridge Starts Season with Win Against Lancaster

River Ridge took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lancaster Flying Arrows 7-5. For the Timberwolves, this counts as revenge for the 11-1 win the Flying Arrows walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Carter Copsey and Blake Reynolds made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Copsey didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Reynolds pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Copsey scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Reynolds scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Davis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

River Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lancaster only posted an OBP of .265.

Coming up, River Ridge is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Seneca at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lancaster, they will square off against Belmont at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
